I am looking to do a Whitney training hike with a small group of friends and would like some info on trailheads, distances, and difficulty. We just did Baldy this weekend and have done San Gorgonio, but I have never hiked San Jacinto. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

The best book on hiking in the area is San Bernardino Mountain Trails by John Robinson.

The best trails for what you're looking to do are the Marion Mountain, Deer Springs or Seven Pines Trails to San Jacinto Peak.
