Sorry, have to say this:

I'm no hero. My Rescue Team is FULL of heroes.

We're a TEAM. It's just as important to know where somone isn't as where the subject is. We all have a task, and we do it.

We would not function without a team effort.

You'd have to be there to know... Come visit??

I'm embarassed that it was two Marines rescued. Don't have the details as to their preparation or knowledge to be out there in the current trail conditions. Young Marines believe they can (and most of the time can) do just about anything, which is why we love 'em and need them so much. However, if they didn't research the hike and have some level of knowledge and training in use of crampons and an ice axe, they had no business being out there. Thanks to the SAR folks. Just signed up for the board, great info on here.

During the RMRU discussion of the rescues it came to light that the individual that fell 600-700ft and the party found under the tram tower was the same person. Seems he got really really close to Coffmans Craig and then slid down from there. RMRU roped down 800ft and then hiked down further to reach him.

If he really was under tower 3 as discussed in the meeting then he probably hiked to there after the initial fall. Once they reached him and explained that a helo wasn't an option it was decided to hike back to the rope and back to up on to the trail.

Long cold night for a lucky man.

The RMRU guys did a great job getting to him and getting him back to RV.
