On Sunday 12/1 Jon King, AKA SanJacJon, made his one-thousandth ascent of San Jacinto Peak! There is a photo at the bottom of his 12/3 trail report ..

That beats Sid Davis. Wikipedia reports 643 San Jacinto ascents for Sid. I never met Sid. But mutual friends said he had an awesome portfolio of colorful jokes.

The information provided by Jon King is truly impressive. I wish the land managers and/or SAR people placed a similar value on preventing accidents by providing information.

Super impressive, especially considering Sid did most of his, (my understanding), from the tram, although he made a point of summitting every calendar day of the year, over the many decades he climbed, (if that makes sense). Jon may have done the same with that many trips.
The highest elevation you can start at from Idyllwild side is 6,500ft? Plus, many of the storms and wind come from that side of the mountain.

Certainly tougher from Idyllwild. And Jon King does it routinely in the snow.
