Rainy Skyline

Howdy All :)

On Friday, the three stooges (Marilyn, Sally and Ellen) and Cameron headed up Skyline. We enjoyed the cloud cover but this made the bottom section very humid. Sally was the team photographer for Team Wet Rat.

The view up as we're passing Rescue One:

Magical cacti and yucca:

The driving rain started at about 6.5 K:

We were very happy to reach Grubbs Notch and to head up the cement switchbacks.

It looks damp, but magical! Lovely shots, as always. Thanks ... :)

Awesome post Ellen. You know what I especially like about it? In most walks of life people grumble when it starts to rain and resent the inconvenience. Crazy hikin' fools just get happier the wilder it gets! Looking at the expressions on your faces made me smile as well. I agree with Cynthia, magical! The only thing you were lacking was a herd of sheep to play with!

Howdy All :)

Marilyn and I went back up Skyline on Sunday -- it looked like major weather was happening up high on all three mountain ranges. It was humid at the bottom and we entered cloud cover at 5 K. We also saw Diana (before she morphed into a deer) below rescue one and Doug passed us at 7 K. It started to snow about 100 vertical feet below Grubbs notch. Last but not least -- I had my first CVB triple IPA (Palms to Pines) at the tram bar -- yummy :P

Almost forgot -- here's my latest shoulder X-ray (12 weeks post-op):

I see my ortho again at the end of June (about 6 months post-op). Apparently, there is a risk of developing avascular necrosis for up to one year.

Howdy Z :)

Big horns would have made the hike even more epic :D
