Problems With Forum?

Postby Hikin_Jim » Wed Sep 09, 2015 12:12 pm

One person reported that this forum was down on Monday. They got some kind of a message about an SQL error.

If you're getting any such error messages, please cut and paste the message into a reply, and post it below.

Hopefully it was either just a fluke or a transient problem. If no reports are received over the next week or so, then I'll take this announcement down.

I got the same message. No problem since Monday.

I think it said something like "too many requests"

OK, yes, the other report was from Monday also. Apparently there may have been some kind of problem then. Hopefully it's resolved now.

I emailed Perry on Monday re the SQL error but i didn't record the details. He replied that things were back online. Haven't had any issues since.

About 98 to 99% of the time, the forum is online and functioning well. Occasionally the forum doesn't work. I get a really good deal on web hosting, and the price is unbeatable. If it's once in awhile, then it makes sense to just stay with the same hosting plan (which is greatly improved over the previous hosting plan). If it starts happening often enough to seriously impact the forum, then it would be time to consider moving it. A lot of the dialogue here takes place over several days, so a 6-12 hour down time once a month isn't a big deal.

No problem here. The occasional down time is really no big deal.

When I got the message, I wondered if I was having a problem with my computer or internet connection, but quickly determined that was not the case. I looked up the error message on the internet, had no idea what it meant, except that I could tell that it was something involving the server. I assumed that whoever handles the server would address whatever was happening.

I definitely agree.

Inasmuch as we're not having on-going problems, I'm going to "downgrade" this thread to a normal thread.
