I actually 'saw' it as Mt. Whitney too--I think because we talk about Mt Whitney a lot more than Mt McKinley around here. My mind saw the "Mt" part and just 'filled in the blanks' on the rest. I recently read that our sense of paying attention to reality is somewhat delusional--we attend to only a few details and the mind basically makes up the rest with whatever we expect to see.

Hiking with a radiologist friend a few years ago, he made the same observation in the context of reading X-rays, MRI's etc. Scary? That is why he mentioned it. It scares him. Of course, he does all he can to see what is there. He is carefully aware of the ways of the human mind.
