Screw shoes are certainly the best option. I have a pair of NB 110s with screws, but the problem would be having to carry a whole other pair of shoes with me on the climb. Microspikes and Yaktrax, on the other hand, can pretty easily fit on my hydration pack. Wearing screw shoes the whole time would be pretty brutal on my feet.

Interesting although I like the idea of being able to easily take on and off microspikes. If for any reason the head of a screw wore off or broke off, the shaft of the screw would migrate upwards into your foot. Ask me how I know this. Super innovative lightweight idea if the conditions are good for it.
