Is Jo Pond from Indian Canyons open/hike-able?

Postby cynthia23 » Mon Dec 15, 2014 11:05 am

I'm planning on going up on Jo Pond this week from the Indian Canyons, just maybe to four or five thousand feet then back down. The Indian ranger says it is open on the Indian side, but I am wondering about its condition--I know the fire burned really bad up there. Has anyone been up it recently/since the fire? Is it still a pretty clear trail? And I certainly don't want to hike through a bunch of dead scrub and ashes. Thanks for any info!

Not the same as before the fire but it's still nice up there.

I went up about 4.5 miles last Saturday. The trail has been washed out a bit thru some the of washes and so route finding was a touch challenging here and there. There are some cairns but not necessarily easy to see.
