Little Round Valley Water?

Postby jwvang » Mon Oct 06, 2014 10:40 pm

Hi Everyone, some friends and I will be doing an overnighter to LRV in a couple of weeks and was wondering what the water situation is at LRV? Thanks.

I would pack in all the water you think you might need.

Figured as much. I just can't believe there's no water at RV either.

I was up at the summit last Saturday (Oct 18) and spoke with two backpackers who said that the stream was still flowing across the Deer Springs Trail about a half mile below Little Round Valley. See this map http://mapper.acme.com/?ll=33.80629,-116.69150&z=15&t=T&marker0=33.80629%2C-116.69150%2C1.5%20km%20SW%20of%20San%20Jacinto%20Peak%20CA for the location. It's called "Bed Springs" and is a bit of a hike downhill from LRV, but not too bad. Beats carrying water all the way up from Idyllwild.

And I can state with certainty that it tasted just fine back on Labor Day Weekend when I was there.

Thanks for the update. I called and spoke with a ranger yesterday and was told that the mountain is completely dry and to bring all water. Will call again tomorrow and specifically inquire about Bed Springs.

Did you end up going, and was there water at Bed Springs? I'm thinking of heading up to LRV via fuller ridge this weekend, and I'd rather not lug a ton of water.
