How long until we can reasonably expect the white stuff?

Okay, since the parks are closed down and we can't discuss the immediate short-term, I thought I'd ask a slightly more long-term question: How long until we can reasonably expect the snow to start falling on San J? Looking at the tram's website, it looks like November is one of the cooler months on the mountain. Any chance we'll see any by late November?

A couple of years ago, we had a storm come through in November and drop a couple of feet of snow. More typically you won't really see much until perhaps January or February. I'm hoping for the November stuff myself, but the chances are kind of slim.

I'd echo Zip's post. I've seen snow, with the ski resorts open and all that, in October, but that's pretty rare. I've also gone hiking in December with no white in sight.

January - March are the most likely months, but last year we had a drought and we didn't get a whole lot of snow period.

The answer is: nobody knows.

The soluction is: Pray for snow. :)

Depends on what the weather gods send our way. Over the years I've been going up there snow typically starts accumualting in the late November/early December timeframe, with good coverage by Christmas. But snow cover can be anywhere from a few inches to a few feet; some years I've seen snow up to the top of the Round Valley outhouses over the Christmas/New Years week, and other years the entire Round Valley meadow will be snow-free.
