Tahquitz Peak / Marion Mountain Trail Conditions?

Postby Stockwell » Sat May 10, 2014 3:22 pm

Me and my buddy found some free time away from our beloved mothers for tomorrow, they are leaving us ;) not us leaving them, so were taking the opportunity to head up north from san diego early tomorrow morning for some good hiking. We want to come back to the san jacintos cause we've been playing in the san gab's way too much lately :) How are conditions up around 8000 and up? I saw the late april post's, and it looks like there is still some snow, i'm guessing ice too, up top.

Any advice?

Hi, the trail was dry all the way to the summit last Sunday, so unless there was a storm in the last week you should not need any special equipment

Went up Devil's Slide on Friday, 5/09. Took the loop in the clockwise direction around the Chinquapin zone. There was no snow. The PCT/ Tahquitz Peak junction was snow free and looked dry up towards Tahquitz Peak. There was no water WITHIN the Chinquapin zone (open, legal areas of camping)...
