in search of snow

We're heading up to Idyllwild in 2 weeks - looking for recommendations for a nice hike (6-8 miles, moderate grade ok, dog-friendly) within an hour or so of the town and areas that have snow (preferably just a clearing to play with the dogs). Thanks!

There's not much in the way of snow right now anywhere in S. Calif. We're in a drought.

Lot's of nice hikes around. The Deer Springs Trail starts basically right in town. That's a nice one, relatively moderate. You can only take the dogs up to the State Park boundary. They're not allowed in the state park. The boundary is 4.2 miles in, so that's still a pretty nice walk.

Here's a helpful/useful map.

Ernie Maxwell is also a dog-allowing trail, though it's not that long either. But it's a lovely little trail.

Snow, though--not sure where you're going to find that.

It doesn't snow in the summer, wait what month is it? South Ridge is another trail you can check out, heads up to Tahquitz and it being outside the state park, dogs are all good. Starts right out of Idyllwild and you need a permit.
