Not much snow on San Jacinto

Postby KathyW » Fri Dec 20, 2013 8:41 pm

I took the tram up today and hiked to San Jacinto Peak via Round Valley and Wellmans Divide. Hardly any snow in Long Valley and then just a little all the way to the summit - the trail was easy to follow all the way and no need for anything on the feet but shoes or boots. The couple inches of new snow actually made it easier because there is some hard icy stuff under it in places.

It is unbelievable how little snow there is this year. Maybe January ? Or not ...

Was up there this past Sunday also. Had a great hike!! I did experience a few icy/slippery trail sections but was manageable.
