Summit hike?

Postby carrie » Mon Dec 09, 2013 10:29 pm

Hi all... I'm here for my first vacation in Palm Springs. My friend and I are interested in hiking from the top of the tram to the summit of San Jacinto tomorrow. We are experienced hikers. Can anyone give me a clue about the trail conditions up there. I get the impression that it's spotty snow so that hiking boots will be fine getting to the top. Is that true???

Went up Sunday, had all the equipment, but didn't use any of it. Hiking boots should be fine. Dress warm (layers)

Temp at the peak was 17 with the wind chill.

Thanks. I was up there today and ended up doing the Round Valley Loop from the tram. It was lots of fun. I plan on returning sometime in the summer for a summit hike.
