Leaving a Bike at the Tram

I didn't realize the gate on the road to the tram is locked at night. What times do they lock and unlock it? I drove in from Newbury Park about 3:30AM to leave my bike and was disappointed to see the locked gate.

When leaving the tram in the afternoon I think I saw where you lock your bike. Midlength down a long log at the motorcycle parking area at the first lot down after you cross the bridge, the dirt was scooped out so a cable or chain could be pulled around. Is that the place?

Dave - They close the gate soon after 10 pm and re-open it around 5.30 am

You might try it the other way around as well. I will sometimes leave my car in the tram lot (where it's safe) and chain my bike over at the museum. This gives me a little warm up before hitting the trail, and keeps the car safe as well. It doesn't affect my total time, since I've got to ride the bike one way or the other.

Incidentally, with the weather cooling off, you might be able to go with a later starting time (5:30 compared to 3:30) but that would be something for you to consider based on the temps and your preferences and abilities.

I lock up my bike near the second parking lot down after crossing the bridge. There's a nice log near the creek. I've seen bikes locked up at other creative locations.
