Deer Spring Trail Report (11-9-13)

Trying to get photos up! Trail was relatively ice free, only a few short sections. No snow on the peak and still no sign! Deer springs had water flowing but none at Little Round Valley. Nice pics, Rich (and nice job).

I think this one is Bed Springs although it's a little hard to tell. I think things got a little torn up since I was last there by thunderstorm flows.


I don't suppose you have GPS coords or anything? Just always curious as to what I'm looking at, and I'm always looking to stay current with what I posted in my San Jacinto Water Sources page. If this water source is the one I'm thinking of, it would be #7 on my list.

It's exactly #7. That fork doesn't have a name on the topos. You helped me out with water before, in fact we were in the Tahquitz/Laws area one week before the fire, now it will be a long while before we can return. Wanted to do the PCT from 74 to Tahquitz like you did Memorial day, now who knows when! Always like to give snow/water reports because that's what people log on to see.

Yeah, that's the irony of it -- that's the #1 most reliable water source on the west side, but it doesn't have a name and the trail is named after another, much less reliable water source.

Source #7 is what I call Bed Springs "Crossing" (where the water from Bed Springs crosses the trail).
