C2C Nov 2 - DATE REVISED

I'm planning to hike C2C October 26 or November 16th. Is anyone planning to hike during those dates? It will be my first time on the trail although I've walked a little bit past the picnic tables to familiarize myself with the beginning and plan to take the tram up and walk down to Coffman's Crag to learn the "end" route.

I'm still aspiring and working to be as amazing as some of the hikers on this board but I've done San Jacinto via Marion mountain, Suicide Peak, Tahquitz Peak, Caramba, West Rm Trail, Saddleback, El Capitan, and Baldy. I have a couple longer/more difficult hikes lined up the next coming weekends as well to get in more practice (Gorgonio, 3Ts + Baldy).

Please let me know if you have any advice (I've re-read most of the articles on this board) or if you'd be interested in coming! Thanks.

I'm interested in joining you on Oct 26. I've been to the peak a few times from the west side, done San G many times, and just did Whitney about 3 weeks ago - took us about 12.5 hrs round-trip. I haven't been on Skyline or done C2C before, but since you've scouted out the two most confusing parts already, I think we'll be fine even though we're both first timers doing C2C. I live in San Diego, so I'll have to drive up and stay in town the night before in order to get an early start. I have a hiking buddy here in SD that I'm going to try to convince to join me as well. I'm 51, but still keep up a pretty good pace on the trail. Hope to hear back from you!

A friend of mine and I are planning to do C2C on Saturday, October 26th. We plan to start around 4:00 am and would love join with anyone else going on the same date.


I'm 51 and here is my hiking experience:

Half Dome (April 2011): 12 hours
Grand Canyon Rim to Rim (Oct 2011): 11 hours
Mt. Whitney (June 2012): 17 hours

In preparation for C2C, I did a two one-day hikes within a week of each other (25 miles, 5000 feet elevation gain, 12 hours, 20+ pounds)


My friend is in his early forties, and here is his experience:

Half Dome - 3 three times, the most recent one in 2012
Mt. Whitney - July 2012
Grand Canyon North Rim to South Rim with overnight stay at the Phantom Ranch - September 2013

I am planning to go Sat Nov 2 from art museum parking lot --I'm a first time hiker though and will not know the trail. Would be glad for company. Just need to confirm a departure time. Lori

Just posting so that I'll get updated when a reply is posted.

I am doing Skyline this Saturday and will possibly turn it into a C2C if we make good time. If I am free, I may try to join you on Nov 2. I've done Skyline 4 or 5 times in the last year, with one of them being part of a C2C.

The first three times I did Skyline I did it from museum and got 'lost' each time. After doing it from Ramon Rd, I decided I'd never do it from the museum again unless someone else was leading.
