Hello,

I read Hikin Jim's blog about hiking the the Skyline Trail. Thanks for the info, Jim.
Five of us will do the C2C on Sat. Oct 5th, starting from the Museum Trailhead. What would you recommend our start time should be? We thought 4:00 am. What do you think?

Thanks.

Leon,

I just split your post off from the potluck post. I hope you don't mind, but you should get better visibility here.

You're welcome for the information.

I started at 0430 and got to Grubbs Notch (the top of the Skyline portion of C2C) the tram at 1330 (9 hours). You still have about 3,000' of gain and about 12 miles round trip to go after you hit the Notch. I'm slow but steady, so you'll likely be faster than I am if you're prepared and in good shape. Still, I would leave a little earlier for a full C2C attempt. If it takes you longer than 9 hours to get to Grubbs Notch, I'd abort the C2C attempt and just be content with the tram (which is one heck of an accomplishment).

A bunch of us will be in Long Valley starting around 1300 having a potluck. Stop by and say hello on your way back. I'll have my little girl with me. There can't be that many groups having a potluck this Saturday with a little girl with them. Photo below for identification purposes. :)

Hi Leon, 4:00 sounds like a good time to start for a C2C. I started at 4:00 last Wednesday and found myself near the forest before it got too hot. The whole thing (museum to Peak to tram) took me 12 hours. I'm in pretty good shape for an old gal.

Ellen and I are doing Skyline on Sat and are starting at 5:00.

If you really hustle you will make it back to the tram in time to join us at our potluck/get-together in Long Valley. It's OK if you don't bring anything 'cause there will probably be plenty of food. I believe we are meeting at the picnic tables near the ranger station.

Have a great hike!

Sally,

I can't believe you're hiking Skyline again already after Wednesday's C2C! You and Marilyn are my role models! Have a great hike.

Cheers
Mike
