Caramba Overlook hike

Postby bytebit » Mon May 20, 2013 12:02 pm

Hi there.

I hiked yesterday from the Tram 2 the Caramba Overlook (unfortunately, could not find anyone to join me). It is certainly an exciting hike but quite strenuous going back to the Tram (13 miles and 3000ft elevation gain/loss--according to my Garmin etrex30--accurate?). The Caramba Overlook has a distinct waterfall and lush green vegetation. Fantastic area to enjoy the raw beauty of nature. It took me 4h50m moving time and 1h5m stop time (mostly at the waterfall--and briefly greeting/chatting with other hikers going back). A great day for hiking in the wilderness, too. It is heating up in the desert!

Any comments--or about your visit to the Caramba Overlook?

Good day, David :)

Yes, one of the most pleasant hikes on San Jac. (with a couple of good side sashays OTBP).

Glad you enjoyed the early 'summer' hike. With our dismal precip year even this pleasant watercourse may be starkers later this summer.
