Hey all,

Thanks for letting me hijack the thread as 'guest' pointed out. I just noticed that a few of you post often and appear to know SJ pretty well. Guest, I was referring to SJ, will have to save San Gorg for another time. Thanks for the invite to join your group though, very kind.

I am going to take the good advice given and not even think about going up the C2C route. I will have to save that for another trip to the area when I have more time and someone to go with me...

Hikin_Jim, thanks for the map link, I will check out your suggestions and do some more research.

I am staying at the Westin Mission Hills, what is the drive to Idyllwild, an hour or so? Do I have to wait for a ranger station to open to get a permit or can they be purchased without help?

Hi Co hiker,

I believe you can self issue a permit at the Idyllwild ranger station for all but Devils Slide on wkends. The drive is approx. 1:15.
The Standard / Chevron gas station in Idyllwild has Adventure (parking) passes, as does Big % Sporting goods in PS, which you will need to park at most trailheads.
