There are more options in your area than mine. Check out an area they call Ladder Canyon. Make sure you have a map and compass, that place you can get lost easily, just don't go if it's going to rain. You also have Joshua Tree and San Gorgonio that is very close. Skyline or C2C, is for expert or very well trained hikers, not for the normal people, like me. I may do it one of these days, but not till I'm ready or just to lazy to go up.
