For those of you who couldn't make it, here's the inside scoop:
Hikin Jim is taller than he looks in his picture, and would be a great go-to guy if you're trying to figure out details. Jim knows his stuff, from pine trees to gadgets to...well, he still has a way to go with batteries!
Walt is always a ton of fun, but there's more to him than you might guess - he's elevated BBQ to an art form. That was hands down the best, most tender and juicy meat I have ever tasted. For any vegetarians out there, you might want to reconsider!
Guest (ss) was not so mysterious in person - and this man knows his mountain. If we're talking about cross country routes, Guest knows San J like I know my back yard. He's a most engaging conversationalist, so it's fun to hear about the routes he takes out in the middle of nowhere. Makes me want to go explore them myself! Of course, it'll be more fun exploring if I have an experienced guide with me...
Cy is always fun - he has so many stories and knows so many people, it would be fun to sit around a campfire with him and talk about the wilderness until the wee hours of the morning. His accent only makes the stories better!
Donnie is an avid outdoorsman, versed in both hiking and biking. He and his beautiful wife Nancy spoke of doing double-century bike rides. Ouch! And I thought Skyline was tough! A little variety sure adds to life, though, and I do a little off season biking myself. Of course, I thought a 20 mile bike ride was a long way, so they'd have to be real patient with z rookie.
I'm already looking forward to the next get together. I can't wait to meet the rest of you crazy hikin' fools!
Ellen, I had seconds of the beef brisket in your honor. Hope you knocked back a Merlot for me!
