My events :
I usually try to get friends to go, that never works.
Then I post to ODC, just to invite like-minded individuals to go with me, but these are in no way ODC-only events.

I am having issues filling a couple trips, see other post in general area. I have a 3-night backpacking planned late September (too early for permits just yet, so which weekend not 100%) - we'll most likely have to pack in all water, so this will be my longest night trip carrying my own water, that will make it more of an adventure, I'd say!

If you want to come (thurs-sun one of the last two weekends of Sept) let me know! I'll be testing light-weight gear (unfortunately, water is going to ruin that!).

Thursday Sept 20 (or 27)
Hike up Deer Spring Trail to Strawberry Junction primitive camp site
> Trailhead around 5800 feet
> break at Suicide Rock trail crossing after 2.3 miles (about 6,900 ft)
> Strawberry Junction camp is at 8000 feet
> total distance is 4.1 miles, elevation gain 2,200 ft

Friday Sept 21 (or 28)
Hike up the Pacific Crest Trail to Little Round Valley primitive camp site
> break at Marion Mountain Trail divide after 2.3 miles (about 8,600 ft, fairly flat to here)
> Little Round Valley camp is just less than 10,000 ft
> total distance is about 3.8 miles, elevation gain 2,000 ft

Saturday Sept 22 (or 29)
Hike towards Peak, then back to Strawberry Junction, down the East Side
> drop packs after 1 mile (10,600 ft)
> hike the .3 miles to peak (10,834) and back to packs
> hike another 2.4 miles to break at Wellman's divide (just under 10,000 ft)
> hike remainder 3.3 miles to Strawberry Junction camp again (fairly flat)
> total distance 6.7 miles with packs, 0.6 miles w/out packs, elevation max loss 2,800

Sunday Sept 23 (or 30)
Exit park, with side trail
> Hike 1.8 from Strawberry Junction to Suicide Rock (1,100 ft loss)
> Drop packs and hike 1 mile in, then out, Suicide Rock Trail (600 ft gain in)
> exit park remaining 2.3 miles to cars (1,100 ft loss)
> total 4.1 miles with packs on, 2 miles w/out packs, 2,200 elevation loss
