Am I the only one who didn't do Skyline today?

General Palm Springs area.

At least they're staying away from the places I go.

Actually, hal, you could hike Skyline now and hardly see any of us...yesterday, we did a bunch of boulder hopping and skipped very long sections of the trail. If this keeps up, the Skyline trail will be deserted soon, and there'll just be a bunch of rock hoppin' fools going directly up the side of the mountain.

Steve: It was fun hiking with you! I had a great 45 seconds or so!

So Zip wrote "you could hike Skyline now and hardly see any of us". Was I just hallucinating?

Howdy Z,

zippetydude wrote: Ellen, I was talking to a friendly young couple from Connecticut when you and Craig left or I might have had some lunch with you, which would have been fun. It was good seeing you. I had been telling Cesar about how we met in person the first two times (if you recall the direction you were heading!), and that if you do a 5 hour skyline that's roughly equivalent to 2 skylines in 5 hours, so you technically hold the all time record for fastest skylines! z

 Oh yes, my "early" days on Skyline when you caught me going down hill twice  You can ask to the folks who hike with me, but I think that now I only do 1.5 Skylines

I am so sorry that we missed you for lunch  We didn't see you at the tram and assumed that you'd already gone down.

Are you going to join me for the October 13 PCT to tram hike (err... run)? I need at least one greyhound to accompany MyOtherBoots Robin. Plus, someone needs to make sure I go to the correct trailhead

Howdy Florian and Hal :)

Once the temperature drops, I'd love to do some desert hikes with you guys.

Miles of smiles,
Ellen

On a non-hiking humorous note:

I wanted to be on time to meet Craig at the visitor's center at 4:45 AM. Got up at 3 AM and brewed my one large mug of coffee (Peets Major Dickenson's blend, Melita filter drip). When I picked up the mug, the handle broke off. In what seemed to be slow motion, I watched the mug hit my ceramic tile and shatter -- spreading coffee and mug shards in front of my kitchen sink :? I did make it on time to meet Craig but wondered if this was revenge for my negative press about caffeine bike shorts :P
