Carrizo Canyon (Seven Level Hill) Indian Trail

Went out on a little outing this morning with Mr. Sugarpants. Started at the Art Smith Trailhead and followed the old Seven Level Hill/Carrizo Canyon Indian Trail up to the Upper Carrizo Canyon area.

Trail is pretty easy to follow in sections although in some places it just vanishes. I did a GPS track on way up but forgot the extra battery for my phone so didn't do a return track.

The pictures aren't too great because I didn't bring a real camera and only brought my phone. Maybe that's a good reason to finally upgrade to the new iPhone.

Last time on this trail I saw six Bighorn but was not so lucky this time. We did find quite a few bedrock mortars, however, in Upper Carrizo.

This is a good hike if you're looking for something different to do in Palm Desert and the area is only open Oct-Dec so do it soon.

Thanks so much for that info on the Cs. I had no idea what they were and thought maybe they had something to do with Carrizo. That's some great info and I appreciate you posting it.
