I took my boys up Seven Pines trail when they were just a bit older. I was new to the area, but the trail had stream crossings. I figured water and kids works. Little did I know I picked one of the tougher trails to take up into SJ. We didn't quite make it to PCT. Howver, the guys really enjoyed drinking "real" water.

I hadn't taken the trail in close to 10 years, so I took it last month. It's still a tough trail, not so well maintained. It's definitely a "get away from everyone" trail. The change of pace was nice, and the nostalgia was powerful!

Enjoy the grandkids!
The difference between a good hike and a bad one is usually just a reflection of what I bring with me.
