Hi all,
My fiance and I are planning on hiking/running from the Palm Springs Art Museum to the Summit and back on Friday. We attempted to hike to the summit Memorial Weekend last year (in fact, I proposed on the hike!), but didn't get to the top due to snow. So this time, we'd like to do the whole thing. We're training for a mountain ultramarathon, so we figured we'd do the downhill as well. Reading some of the recent reports, it sounds like getting to the top is now doable without snow gear? Would love to hear any thoughts/suggestions on our plan:
4 a.m.: start, with about 2.5 gallons of water between us.
9-10 a.m: get to the tram, refill water
~noon: summit
1:30 back to the tram, refill water
get back ~4-6? depending on how the knees hold up on the downhill!
I guess we might spend more time at the tram waiting for the heat to die down before descending - we'll see.
Any thoughts?
Thanks!
