snow conditions from May 1 weekend?

Is there anyone who went to the summit of San J over the May 1 weekend who can report on snow conditions? The most recent report I've seen on the board was from stevesd75 who did C2C on the weekend before that (Apr 24) and reported snow starting at Tamarack Vy. He was able to get up without snowshoes, but from his description it sounded like snowshoes would have been more optimal on that day.
