Went out yesterday with one of my kids and a friend to an unnamed canyon in the Santa Rosas south of La Quinta. Didn't find much but it does hold promise for the future. We found some water and an old Indian trail leading into the canyon. If there's water and a trail there's a possibility of a trail leading out of the canyon higher up.

If you're looking for a place to get away from the crowds, this is a great place. Not only did we not see any other people, we did not see any other footprints. Can't wait to go back. The area is rife with possibility.

Hey Hal, wonderful to see the new site with the old, very enjoyable format. I hope you haven't changed your humour and wit either.

I have been to that old bus...I know that area fairly well and it is nice back in there...theres alot of uncovered ground back there, I'm sure.

I feel like such an idiot, today I got back in Magnesia Falls, I thought the Blixseth property had closed it off, so I never bothered to go back over there...talk about fun to be had ! Another beautiful place to get lost in.

....of course, theres always skyline in a storm..

Nice to see the new blog, looking forward to you finding new hikes for the rest of us too.

How did you access magnesia falls? Is it straight up the culvert from 111?
