pacific ocean from marion mtn 11/13

An experienced gentlemen we accompanied said he had never seen the ocean from Mt. San Jacinto and hes been there hundreds of time. He got kinda quiet when I pointed this out. Camera didn't do view justice. Could make out large military ship off Pendleton and some of the channel islands. Oh and watch for ice on the trail

It's always fun when it's clear enough to catch a glimpse of the ocean from the summit. I'm a radio amateur and using a small handheld radio can talk to other amateurs via the Catalina Island repeater 100 miles away when i'm on the summit. It's all about line of sight.
