What am I missing here? Isn't part of the Skyline Trail already in the reservation? There haven't been any problems with that part of the trail has there?

No problems yet. But if you read the EIR it states that a permit will be required to access the Skyline trail on section 16.

I think the concern is that tribe will manage the Skyline as they do the canyons. $8 entrance fee, not open until 8am, closed at 5pm, etc.

I understand the need to start early on that trail if you're going to go up it and I understand the local hikers' concerns about losing access to one of their favorite trails, but does anyone really think there's going to be a fence with a guard part of the way up the Skyline Trail? Why hasn't that happened already?

I doubt this would happen. Although the tribe has the means (and money) to put a guard on the trail 24/7 if they wanted.

I am much more concerned, as i have been from the beginning, about the tribe acquiring section 36 for commercial development. Section 36 abuts private and tribal land to the east with existing dirt road access as well as the South Ridge neighborhood with access to power and water.

That's my worry. That everyone is focusing on the Skyline and a beautiful desert hillside ends up with a casino built on it.
