Looking for GPS coordinates for camp site

Postby Jacek » Tue Nov 02, 2010 2:57 pm

Approx. 10 years ago my friend took us to a camp site (one you can 'reserve' at the Ranger Station) that overlooks Palm Springs. I thought it was Caramba, but it was definitely south of it, somewhere. Can someone point me to the right location? I don't think there are many camp sites with the Palm Springs view...Any directions will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you - -

Jacek,

My guess is the area that you're referring to is in the Desert View zone that lies primarily on the south side of Tahquitz Creek and runs along the eastern edge of the "plateau" if you will. I'm not so sure about specific site names or numbers in that area, but there are a few with great views of the desert floor. I'm sure someone else on here will chime in with some more concrete info for you. Also, keep in mind that this is in the federal portion of the wilderness as opposed to the state park.
