Fuller Ridge and Castle Rocks

Postby Lcpl Hughes » Sun Sep 12, 2010 12:44 pm

sorry for the late post but went up Fuller Ridge with my friend Danny last weekend (Saturday) set up camp in Little Round Valley and then summited about 2 hours before sunset..just chilled on the summit until the sun went down and then headed back to camp in the dark..I was roughin' it with just a sleeping pad and my poncho liner..luckily it was not too cold and hiked back down in the morning..almost forgot about Castle Rocks..hit it on the way up, stashed our packs at the boundry sign and went straight up the side and scrambled to the peak, amazing views..

Also found the only cache on the Ridge
http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_de ... 350a6a45e6
which has not been found since 4-09 and only 3 times since it was placed

You gotta love the boulders that make you work for your money ;)

This trip was definitely awesome. Lcpl Hughes and I had a blast scrambling up Castle Rocks and San Jacinto, and we sure found out how much of a pain in the *** cleaning fresh tree sap off your jacket is ;)

It's a beautiful area full of giant alpine trees and amazing boulders. The north face of San Jacinto blew my mind. It looks like a giant stone statue. I can imagine how fun of a route snow creek must be.
