I don't support making people pay for rescue; I support making some areas NO RESCUE ZONES.

And what's one man's foolhardiness is another man's adventure.

How in the world is that trail misleading !? from almost anywhere in the valley you can look up and get a pretty good idea that hiking up that hill would have to be kinda hard...and in this heat ?

Maybe next time they shouldnt call the helicopter, I know a couple people that would be willing to run up electrolyte caps, a bottle of water and a kick in the butt.

Foolhardy hikers should pay for own rescue

I dont support hikers paying for their own rescue either, because they would be risking death.

I've always been baffled by that. How can anyone who's ever ridden the tram think that it's going to be easy to do the same journey on foot?

I think that a 4000' foot gain hike is a pretty good hike. If I recall correctly going up the Devils Slide or Marion Mtn trails to the top is in the 4000' gain range. To me, those are pretty solid hikes. When someone starts talking double that, I'm not thinking that's going to be a walk in the park. Then add in 100+ degree heat? You've got to be kidding. The only hike I want to take in 100+ degree heat is to the refrigerator for something cold to drink!
