A phrase I heard recently might be relevant
"You know that thing in your head that says 'Don't do that'; well we don't have that"

Florian does have it.

Cornell's an interesting peak. Really fun class three (non technical) climbing up to that point where Florian stopped (see Florian's photo).

I found the chockstone just before where Florian stopped to be a tad tricky when coming back down. I guess just think about what you're doing if you go alone.

Hi Florian,

Yes, I had exactly the same experience on Cornell, it can get pretty windy on that peak as well, you made a good decision. I recall the last time I hiked Cornell I lost a hiking pole and my friend lost her jacket, which is unusual for me because in my years of hiking I have rarely lost anything. Which brings me to the question - Is there a lost property office at the tram station, Pat who works there said I should phone in to the lower station, anyone know what they do with stuff handed in?

Cheers Phil

Okay, I'm in. Write up expresses perfectly what life taunts all of us with each day - do you have the talent, the guts, the bad judgment, to try this next step? It may be rewarding, or it may end badly, and there's no telling til you have done with it. I'm definitely there, hopefully within a week or so, and i'll post my impression as well. That is, provided I survive to tell about it! Thanks Florian, for keeping life interesting.

Florian - I had an identical experience last summer. Headed to the Peak late afternoon mid-week, no one around, no one knew I was on the mountain, permit said Peak. I remembered pics someone posted so detoured up Cornell. I started to scramble up that crack, had a flashback of accidentally sliding down a rock a couple of months earlier on PCT and how difficult it was climbing back up, and decided getting stuck up there, or worse, wasn't a good idea! And, I'd left my poles in a convenient and easy-to-find place at the base of the rock pile....took me twenty minutes to find them when I came back down.
