Weather this weekend

Postby Pack_Envy » Fri Jun 04, 2010 8:15 am

I'm going to Palm Springs this weekend and was thinking about hiking to San Jacinto peak via the tram. I've backpacked in Yosemite in late summer when temps have been 80-90 degrees.

Is it safe to assume since the highs are 110/79 in palm springs that the temperature will be 80/49 on the top of Mt San Jacinto using the 3 degrees per 1000 feet rule?

Any input greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It's usually 5 degrees per 1000 feet so it'll be even cooler on top. You do have to take radiant heat into account out here, though, because there will be no cloud cover and no shade so it'll seem hotter.
