Nature's Air Conditioner

Last Tuesday evening I went up Devil's Slide and went for a run from Saddle Junction over towards Willow Creek. As I went through Skunk Cabbage Meadow, the conditions were about as perfect as possible on a summer night. The sun had not set in the valley below, but was completely hidden on that part of the trail. The meadow was full of ferns and the temperature was so cool, I actually felt chilly. That was a real nice surprise when everything you touch in the valleys below feels hotter than a match head.

Of course, hotter than a a match head is a relative term.

On the same day, they were running the Badwater Ultramarathon in Death Valley 135- miles.
