Murray Hill hike

Postby Florian » Fri Jun 12, 2009 1:34 pm

Hiked up Murray Hill south of Palm Springs from the Rimrocks trailhead this morning. Went up via the Wildhorse trail and the south face. Came down the north face. I usually do this loop in the opposite direction for some reason. A few pics here ...

I'm really enjoying these cooler temps. Temps are normally well over 100° in the desert by now. 7.84 miles total distance talking 3 hours 10 minutes.

Its a great hike Florian. I never realized how quickly the mountain bikes erode the trails until I saw the early steep section of Wildhorse. I gather that it occurs when they lock the rear brake and slide down that section. If you come up from the Rimrock side the cut off just after the water tanks makes the trip much better than walking up the road.

Yes, that's the route i take. The bikers usually stay on the road. In fact it seem most hikers/walkers stay on the road as well.
